TRANSPORT TO SCHOOL
PROBLEM AT PUKEKOH E ATTITUDE OF MINISTER [fbom our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Thursday The problem of providing transport for children to the PukekoheJTechnicpl. High School from districts not sirred by rail was again discussed by the . sch,ool board of managers on Tuesday. After lengthy discussion it was decided to hold a meeting of parents interested at the school to-morrow evening. The member for Franklin, Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, forwarded a copy of a letter he had received from the Minister of Education, Mr. Fraser, in reply to a petition forwarded on behalf of Franklin residents. It was stated that consideration would be deferred until the financial position had been examined. ""The Minister was hopeful that it would be found possible to grant some financial assistance. , - In a covering letter, Mr. Sexton said he had interviewed the Minister _on Monday and while no definite promises had been made it was reasonable to expect some assistance as from the second term of this year. The Minister had suggested that parents should make every effort to allow their children to attend this term so that they could continue without interruption.
