MAINLY FAIR TO FINE RISING TEMPERATURES The weather report and forecast for f • New Zealand, issued last evening By the Government meterologist, were &}.)' follows: —A rather intense anti-cyclone covers the Dominion to-day, the centre of which is located east of the South Island. A depression is situated on the western Tasman. The forecast is f or light to moderate winds, variable at firsts but soon tending or northerly, later freshening aboup and south of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Easterly winds at first in the northern portion, otherwise northerlies prevailing, moderate generally with slight to moderate seas, but wind and sea increasing in the southern portion. The weather is likely to be fair to fine generally with rising temperatures. A few isolated showers are likely, however, in the Far North, later cloud increasing and showers de. veloping on the west coast of the South Island. The weather for the most part is likely to be fair and warm, but a few isolated showers are probable on the east coast. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine weather, with a light northerly breeze, prevailed yesterday. The barometer was variable during the day, but remained slightly above normal. Midnight, Wednesday „. 30.Ciln, Wellington.—The day was fine and pleasant with a clear sky in the morning and some cloud in the afternoon, A moderate south-easterly wind prevailed. The minimum temperature on Wednesday night was 51 degrees. The maximum yesterday was 64 degrees. Christchurch.—The weather was fine and sunny in Christchurch yesterday. A fresh south-westerly wind was blowing. The barometer was falling slowly and registered 30.19ih. at five o'clock last evening. Dunedin. —Ideal summer weather was experienced yesterday, the sun shining from a clear sky. There was •practically no wind and the maximum temperature was 74 degrees.
