DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER
ARRIVAL BY WANG AN ELLA A distinguished soldier. General Sir Cyril MacMullan, General Officer commanding the Eastern Command in India since 1932, is expected to arrive at Auckland by the Wanganella this afternoon to spend a six weeks' fishing holiday in the Dominion. * General MacMullen, who was horn in 1877. comes from a military familv. Shortly after entering the Army he served on the North-west Frontier in India and later he took part in the Tibet Expedition of 1903-4. He served , throughout the Great War and gained : promotion in the field. He was made a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order, in addition to , numerous foreign decorations. Later he took part in the Afghan War of 1919 and subsequently served in various capacities in India until he was promoted general in 1931. General MacMullen , was created a Knight Commander of the Bath in 1930, and the additional honour of G.C.B. was conferred on. . him last year.
