PIGEON FLYING
NORTHERN CLUB'S RACE Twenty-nine lofts competed in the young bird combined raco flown under tho auspices of the Northern Racing; Pigeon Club from Taihape, an airline distance of 205 miles, to Auckland. The birds were liberated at Taihapo at 8.45 a.m., and the winning bird arrived at Mr. E. Harland's loft at Mount Albert at 3 p.m., having covered tho distance at n velocity of 950 yds |>er minute. Tho easterly . wind was .not conducive to high speed, but the finish was a very close one. The total prize money was £l2 3s Gd. Results:—E. Harland, Mount Albert, 950 yds, £3, 1; J.
