INTOXICATED DRIVER
ASLEEP AFTER ACCIDENT CAR AT BOTTOM OF GULLY [ BY TELEGRAPH —OWX CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Tuesday A young man, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was charged in the Police Court before justices yesterdav with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car. Sergeant Hodgson said the police were advised on Saturday night of an accident on the Kaimai Road. The ambulance went out by request, and on arrival at Lower Kaimai Constable McKcnzie found a motor-car at the bottom of a gully with defendant in it asleep. There were two bottles of beer in the car, and defendant was drunk. The Bench said defendant might have been killed or have killed other people. A nne of £lO and expenses was imposed, and the Bench ordered cancellation of defendant's licence for the remainder of the current term. CHARGE AT WHAKATANE WELLINGTON MOTORIST FINED [by telegraph—OWN* correspondent] WHAKATANE. Tuesday A charge of being intoxicated while driving a motor-car in the Strand, Whakatane, was admitted by Harold Fairchild Pobar, of Wellington, in the Magistrate's Court this morning. He wau fined £lO.
