SHIELD CRICKET
BADCOCK'S GREAT SCORE SOUTH AUSTRALIA DECLARES (Received February 24, 11.15 p.m.) . ADELAIDE, Feb. 24 In the Sheffield Shield cricket match between Victoria and South Australia the latter declared its first innings closed with six wickets down for 565 (Badcock 325, Parker 88, Ryan 77, Walker not out 33). Wilson took three wickets for 122, Ebeling two for 97 and Gregory one for 97. Victoria, which in its first innings made 201, had scored 36 without loss in the second at stumps. Badcock and Ryan established a record fourth-wicket partnership for South Australia against Victoria when they put on 199. Badcock's performance was particularly meritorious, as he was handicapped by a badlyblistered hand. INDIAN PLAYERS NEW LEG-BEFORE RULE AGREEMENT WITH MARYLEBONE DELHI, Feb. 23 The Nawab of Bhopal, president of the Indian Board of Cricket Con- ' trol, has cabled to the Marvlebone 1 Club saying:—" My board made its request to you regarding the new leg-before rule only because we felt that our players, who had, had no experience of playing under these conditions, might not be able to reproduce their form and thus might disappoint our kind hosts in England. "You have now explained your difficulties, which we fully appreciate. I readily accept your suggestion and on behalf of the board agree to the Indian team playing under the new rule during the 1936 tour."
