OBITUARY

MR. J. J. LAWSON The death hns occurred at Auckland of Mr. J. J. Lawson, who in his early life lived on tho West Coast both at Jieefton and at Westport. He was in business in Westport for many years. Mr. Lawson's association with Freemasonry extended over 44 years, and ho was a past master of Lodge Kawatiri 152. Westport. For long he was an active member of the Foresters' Lodge. As a keen lover of music he was actively associated with bands both on the West Coast and in Auckland, where he was sergeant of the First Battalion Auckland Regimental Band. Mr. Lawson was also interested in the work of fire brigades, and ho held many medals and awards for his service in that field of activity. Mr. Lawson is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. E. J. It. McLaren, of Epsom. CAPTAIN J. McOULLOOH [By telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON.
