VALUE OF OLIVE OIL
FULL OF VITAMINS Olive oil has many uses, and people do not nearly realise its value, both medicinally and in the household. It is full of vitamins, and is a most nourishing food. It is excellent for building up the nerves, and for correcting digestive troubles—take a spoonful just before eating, and it will remove the acids which cause fermentation in the food tract. It is also invaluable for chest complaints, constipation, kidney and liver disorders, for it has all the advantages and nono of the disadvantages of animal fat. If it is found difficult to take at first (and"many people dislike the idea of taking any oil), it can be swallowed quite easily in a little milk or orange juice, or with a pinch of salt. As one becomes used to it is can bo taken alone. For household use it is also good, lo remove heat marks from a polished table rub with a little olive oil and salt. Try rubbing brass curtain rods with olive oil to make the rings slip along easily. Olive oil makes an excellent polish for lacquered wood —trays, etc. To prevent silver fiom tarnishing when it is stored away rub it over first with a little olive oil. Brassware will keep its bright shine longer if it is rubbed up with a touch of olive oil after the usual cleaning. If dark coloured straw hats are brushed well with a stiff, clean brush dipped lightly in olive oil the gloss will be restored and the hats considerably freshened.
