The aoovo photograph shows the fastest amphibian in the world, a new type developed by Sikorsky, builders of the transpacific Clipper Planes, which has been added to the inter-islands fleet of Inter-Island Airways, of Honi _ n 'u an( i 'lift ig motor planes can land on land or water, the wheels being retractable. They have a cru.s.ng speed of 186 m.p.h. and Uft 18 passengers. It is considered that this typo of piano would be ideal for New Zealand uses, particularly in the CooK Strait crossing.
