AUSTRALIA'S WOOL

£47,259,195 FOR 1935 PROFITABLE LEVEL OF PRICES The Australian wool cheque for 1935 was £47,259,195, compared with £38,319,357 in 1934. 'fhe quantity of wool handled and sold, 3,209,776 bales, was easily a record and compared with 12,279,174 bales in the previous year. An Australian report states that the trade can look back on 1935 with the deepest satisfaction. The year, which began-in widespread gloom, has ended in general optimism. From the buyers' point of view 1935 has been good, for they have been able, with rising prices, to recoup some of the terrific losses sustained in the market collapse of 1934. The growers have seen their produce lifted from prices which barely covered the cost of production, if indeed they did that, to a level' which shows a really good margin of profit.
