OHR AND CURTIS IN FINAL YOUNG SKIP'S SUCCESS [:by TELEGRAPH —own correspondent] WHANGAP.EI, Thursday The North Auckland Bowling Centre's annual full-rink tournament was continued to-day in beautiful weather. The preens were in splendid order ana much faster than usual. The only section to bo won outright was section (J, which was won by Curtis with four wins and one loss. In section A three teams tied, and in section B 110 less than four out of the six teams in tho Bection were equal. Orr's team created what is considered a record in having seven points scored against it in the first .head of each of the two games played to-day in the section play. The team was' defeated in the first game against Miller, but won the second against McAllister, thus qualifying for a tie in the section play. One of the outstanding features of the tournament is the success of the team skipped by T. H. Stewart. who is a comparatively young player. This is his first experience as a skip in an important tournament.. In reaching the semi-final he put up a splendid performance, Results of to-day's play are:— SECTION A Round Four.—Courtney, 20. v. Stewart, 14; Dav»y, 27, v. Tibbits, 11; McDermott, XS, v. Graham, 13. Round Fire.—Courtney, 17, v. Graham, 15; Tibbits, 20, v. McDermott, 17; Stewart, 21, v. D. Avey, 13. The following teams tied in the section, each with three wins and two losses:—Tibbits, Davcy and Stewart. In the semi-final of five heads, Tibbits, 4, defeated Davey. 2, and in the final Stewart, 6, defeated Tibbits, 4, thus winning the section. • SECTION- B Round Four.—Miller, 25, v. Orr, 15: Yendall, 19, vi Williams, .13; McAllister, 15, •v. Everett. 14. Round Five.—Yendall, 21, v. Miller 18k. fs? r ? lt - 21, v - "Williams, 3; Orr, 27, v.' McAlhster. 25.
The following teams tied with three wins and two losses each:—Oir, Williams, Everett and McAllister. In the ecmi-final Orr, 4. defeated Willisms, 3, and McAllister, 5, defeated Everett, 4. In the final Orr, 7, defeated, McAllister, 5, and won tho section. SECTION C Round Four.—England, 23, v. Wilson, 12; Greville, 22, v. McMillan, 11; Curtis a bye. Round Five.—Curtis, 20, v. Greville, 10; McMillan, 25, v. Wilson, 18; Englund a bye. Curtis won this section outright with four wins and one loss, Englund and Greville being next with three wins and two losses. In the semi-final, Stewart, the winner of section A, played Orr, tho winner of section B. in a game of 11 heads, Orr winning by 10 points to 9. final will be played to-morrow between Orr (Whangarei) and Curtis (Kensington), who drew the bye HENDERSON TOURNAMENT The following skips have entered teams for a pairs tournament lo be held on Tuesday by the Henderson Bowling Club:— Cairns.
