SPREAD OF RAGWORT
MEASURES FOR CONTROL STATE ACTION SOUGHT [by telegraph—OWN" correspondent] TAURAXGA. Thursday The serious spread of ragwort was discussed by the Tauranga County Council to-day. The inspector reported that it appeared that definite action would have to be taken by the Government for the eradication of the weed, otherwise the increased spread would force quite a number of working farmers off their holdings. Urgent action was necessary to stay the tide of destruction caused by ragwort. Members of the council supported the inspector's report, and it was decided that Mr. C. H. Burnett, M.P., should be asked to make representations to the Department of Agriculture to expedite the liberation of insects for attacking ragwort
