DEEP-SEA FISHING
SPORT IN NORTH AUCKLAND BLACK MARLIN OF 628L8. [FROM (It'll OWN CORRESPONDENT] RUSSELL. Thursday A visitor from Singapore, Mr. A. Stewart, fishing from the launch Marlin, landed a black marlin swordfish weighing 62Slb. Already this season a considerable number of large black marlin swordfish has been caught.
While off Cape Brett in the launch Alma G., Mrs. Ashley-Dodd, of Ipswich, England, landed a striped marlin swordfish weighing 2541b. The fish gave the angler a great thrill, leaping out of the water time and time again. Two hours were required to bring it to gaff. . Sir Henry Scott, of Suva, Fiji, fishing from the launch Reliance, caught a swordfish of 2501b. off Dog Rock. The fish took two hours 25 minutes to land, it proving a very strong fighter. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Ernst., of New York, have arrived Russell by motor-car and they will be fishing from Otehei Bay.
