WIN FOR WELLINGTON AUCKLAND'S IMPROVED FORM GOOD BOWLING AVERAGES The women's representative cricket match between Auckland and Wellington for the Hallyburton-Jolinstone. Shield concluded at Eden Park yesterday on a perfect wicket, resulting in a win for Wellington by ten wickets. Wellington batted on after securing the runs, and lost six wickets for 60.

Continuing its first innings with three down for 114 Wellington compiled 150. H. Buck, who had given an impressive display for 74 on the first day, failed to improve her score, as she was clean-bowled by the Auckland captain, N. Browne. Another fine batting performance was that of N. Sheridan who, in making 32, revealed an easy swinging style. Auckland's most successful bowler was J. Page, who i gained the splendid figures of iivo wickets for 20 runs. Auckland commenced its Becond innings in a much more confident manner, and altogether gave a greatly improved exhibition for 102. M. Wliitclaw, 31, and E, Smithymnn, 23, were the. mainstays on the batting list, but it was pleasing to note that the entire team endeavoured to force the play by more solid hitting. Creditable bowling performances for Wellington were those of I. Pickering, who captured four wickets for 24 riins, and N. Sheridan, who took throe for 23. Requiring 22 runs to win. Wellington opened its second innings in fine style and runs again came freely. H. Buck once mora showed her domination of the bowling with well-judged late cuts and neat hooking.
