ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AUCKLAND TITLE EVENTS CLOSE FINISHES RECORDED With one exception, close finishes marked the championship meeting of tho Auckland Amateur Cycling Centre held at the Western Springs Stadium last evening. A strong head wind along the back straight minimised any record times being registered. Apart from the ono mile tandem-paced title, which was retained by A. G. Patrick, all the other championships changed hands. A good effort was recorded by R. Triner in the ten miles championship race, of 34 laps. He led the field for 30 laps, and was just beaten in a gruelling finish. Miss Jean Martain fell in the ladies' race, but was not seriously injured. A spectacular spill in the last lap of the three-miles championship saw seven riders spreadeagled on the track, but without serious injury. Following are the championship holders:— Unpaced kilometre, R. T. Taylor; sprint title, R. T. Taylor; one mile senior, A. G. Patrick; one mile junior, J. H. Gillbanks; junior kilometre, J. H. Gillbanks; one mile ladies. Miss T. Beasley; ten miles, L. H. Dwight.
