KAITAIA DRAINAGE
MINISTER'S VISIT LIKELY MAIN STREET TAR-SEALING [by tet.ecraph—OWN correspondent! KAITAIA, Saturday In reply to a request from a representative meeting held in Kaitaia on Tuesday when a resolution was carried requesting the Minister of Public Works personally to visit the district for the purpose of inspecting the drainage works carried out by the Government in the Kaitaia drainago area, the chairman of the Kaitaia Town Board, Mr. J. T. B. Taffe, has received a telegram from Mr. H. M. Rushworth, M.P., stating that if possible the Minister would visit the district before the session, but owing" to the almost daily meetings of Cabinet no assuranco of his visit could bo given. The meeting at which the request was made considered that in view of tho present flooding of tho area, especially during the past two years, the drainage works were not adequate. Arrangements have now been completed between the Kaitaia Town Board and tho Public Works Department for the department to carry out the work of tar-sealing the main street in Kaitaia, which is part of the No. 1 main highway. It is expected that the work will be put in hand almost at once.
