INDICATIONS FOR CHANGfI fairly general rain The -weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —The anti-cyclone mentioned yesterday is now centred far to the eastward and a complex depression is moving on to the Dominion. The forecast is for north-easterly, to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong generally and of gale at times in places in and south of Cook Strait, with a change to south-westerlies, advancing later over the South Island. Seas in New Zealand waters becoming rough in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas and later on parts of the East Coast of the South Island; otherwise moderate but rising north of Farewell Spit. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds, changing to southerlies. Seas moderate but increasing. The weather is likely to be fair at first in eastern and northern districts, elsewhere unsettled with rain developing and fairly general falls probable within 24 to 36 hours. Temperatures warm but a cool change later in the South Island. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST CLOUDY WITH RAIN LATER The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate but increasing north-easterly to northerly winds. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —There was a continuation of fine, summer weather and a moder- 1 ate to fresh easterly wind during the week-end, but the conditions were overcast for prolonged intervals. The north-westerly wind increased from 6 a.m. .on Sunday and the day was overcast and gusty with an average of 15 to 20 miles an hour and gusts up to 40 miles an hour. The maximum temperature was 69 degrees. Christchurch. —The weather was fine and sunny in Christchurch on Saturday with a fresh n6rth-easterly breeze. Sunday morning broke dull and threatening and a thunderstorm about 11.30 a.m. was followed by heavy rain for an hour and a-half. Conditions for the rest of the day were threatening. Dunedin. —Ideal summer weat|er was experienced on Saturday with r bright sunshine and a fresh north-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees.
