JANUARY TRADE RETURNS
[by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAXCtAREI, Saturday The statement of trade and shipping for January, submitted to the Whangarei Harbour Board yesterday, showed a substantial increase in ench item as compared with January, 1935. The imports totalled 1965 tons, as against 1272 tons, and the exports 6848 tous, as compared with 6217 tons. The number of vessels entering the porttotalled 68. with a total registered tonnage of 10,947 tons, whilo for the previous January 54 vessels with a tonnage of 9437 tons entered the port. The cash receipts showed a small reduction, the figures being £IO3O for last month, and £1062 for January, 1935.
