BREACH OF PROMISE
REMARKS BY A JUDGE WARNING TO YOUNG MEN LONDON. Feb. 13 "A guide should be written for young men warning them that they are not safe from a breach of promise action solely because they have never proposed to a woman. Sho might have taken something else for a proposal," said Mr. Justice Hilbury at the Newcastle Assizes, in giving judgment, with costs, against a war widow, aged 'lj, who brought an action against a man stated to be nine or ten years her junior. The Judge said: "It is amazing that plaintiff should ask for damages when it has been shown that defendant asked her on many occasions to marry him secretly, which she refused, wanting to be married openly."
