BATTLE WITH GALE
IYAOHT'S CREW EXHAUSTED [from our own correspondent] LONDON. Jan. 18 The crew of seven of the ketch yachi Radiance, which took refuge at Lyme Regis, Dorset, recently, were completely exhausted by a seven days' battle with rough seas in the Channel, which culminated in a 65-miles-an-hour gale. The Radiance is a converted iirixham trawler, part-owned by Mr. Paul Thompson, a retired American naval officer, who was on board. Also on board were Mrs. Plisson, of Monte Carlo, and her two sons. The yacht had been towed to safety by a trawler, and the Weymouth lifeboat also went out when the Radiance was seen to be apparently helpless. During the .storm the vessel's sails were blown to ribbons and her auxiliary engine broke down.
