MANAGER'S PREDICAMENT
The manager of a village cinema in Hungary was recently put into a predicament by a film which, although not a tragedy, failed to end with the traditional embracing of the lovers. When the lights went up, the audience sat on, calling loudly for the "kiss and finish." As nobody could be persuaded to leave the building the manager at last conceived the idea of cutting off the last scene of an old film which happened to be in his office and throwing it on the screen. This effort was greeted with loud applause, and the now satisfied audience dispersed with good humour.
