The sawdust ring, the big tent, the travelling menagerie and all the other accompaniments have lost none of their glamour for children and for many older folk who have not altogether lost the spirit of childhood. The Wirth family has kept alive the circus tradition in this part of the world for more than a generation and the company is at present on a successful tour of the North Island. The long experience which the Wirth family has had in thp presentation of circus performances has stood it in good stead. The programme this year is a feast of entertainment, full of novelty and excitement. It is a series of colourful find brilliant acrobatic and equestrian feats. The gymnastic display given by the Seven Nelsons is outstanding and an amazing exhibition of strength is given by Erwin Nelson walking with "four men high." Miss Gladys appears on Duke, the golden horse, while the De Pauls, a troupe of seven feminine acrobats, give a thrilling and artistic display- of' the finest of all exercises, tumbling. The seven Hiltons, who in previous companies have won great popularity, perform miracles in the air without the security of safety nets, while August Hilton performs a triple somersault from a springboard, landing in a chair. One of the most amusing acts is tho two Midget elephants frisking about the ring, engaged in a game of skittles. Tho extraordinary jumping ability of greyhounds is well demonstrated by two Pino dogs, while thero are numerous other animal acts, which will amaze and delight both young and old. Tho most daring act in tho history of the circus, the handling of two Royal Bengal tigers, is performed by Captain Erie Flyger.
