SWIMMING TITLES

CHAMPIONSHIP CARNIVAL SPRINT HEATS THIS EVENING HANDICAPS FOR TO-MORROW The management committee of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has decided that the heats of the 100 yds. men's and ladies' championships of Auckland shall be swum in the Tepid Baths to-night at six o'clock. Officials were appointed as follows: —Judges: Messrs. F. W. Grey, H. Congdon, H. Johnson, H. Keys, L. Fairgray; timekeepers, Messrs. J. K. Douglas, E. and T. Maude, B. C. and E. Misses M. Arndt (Morrinsville) and L. Kirk (Tahuroa), two of the buck-markers, are the finalists in the ladies' singles, R- B. Lugton (Ngarua) has reached the final of the men s singles and is to meet the winner of the semi-final between G. Hall (Tatuanui) and D Johnston (Mangateparu). In the ladies doubles three pairs still have » chance of contesting the final with Miss M. Roberts and Mrs. G. W. Fulton. The men s doubles and the combined doubles were not advanced as far as other sections and several strong pairs will meet before the finals are reached.
