HEAVY FIGHTING
STATE TROOPS' ACTIVITY Times Cable LONDON, Jan. 30 The Peking correspondent of the Times states that after heavy fighting 20,000 Communists, advancing southward from the captured towns of Pingyuen and Maping, cut the communications with Kwei-yang eastward. The Government troops then retjred and are strongly fortifying their positions. It is claimed that troops from Hunan are menacing the Communists' rear.
