THEFTS FROM DWELLINGS
WOMAN ADMITS OFFENCES NUMBER OF HOUSES ENTERED [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION"] ASHBURTON, Friday A sequel to a series of thefts from dwellings extending over several weeks was the appearance of Edna May Smith, a young married woman, before justices of the peace on 10 charges involving breaking, entering and theft. Accused who pleaded guilty, had nothing further to say. She was committed for sentence. Bail was allowed.
It was stated accused watched the occupiers leave their houses and then entered. The articles stolen included wearing apparel, crockery, cutlery, jewellery, linen, provisions and money. She was apprehended when one occupier returned after a brief absence and found her coming out of the front floor.
