MOTOR SERVICES
PASSENGERS AND GOODS DECISIONS OF AUTHORITY An application to run a passenger service between Huia and Auckland, to extend to Whatipy when passengers were offering and weather conditions permitted, was made by W. L. McKenzie before the No. 2 Licensing Authority yesterday.
The application was opposed by N. Hinge, who at present holds the licence, but was supported by a petition of a number of residents of Huia. Evidence was called to show that the road was frequently impassable, particularly during the winter months. It was stated that there was not sufficient trade offering to warrant two services.
The application was refused. Other applications declined were those of D. S. Waugh, of Ngatea, to carry general goods in the Hauraki Plains County and to Paeroa, Kopu and Pokeno railway stations, and W. A. Watts, of Waitakaruru, to carry general goods and livestock to any part of the Hauraki Plains and Ohineinuri Counties, and livestock to Westfield.
The following applications were granted:—E. J. McQuoid, of Titirangi, the right to extend the 9..'50 a.m. bus trip from Auckland on Sundays and holidays to Cornwallis; North Shoro Transport Company, Limited, additional trips for the Bayswater and Brown's Bay services; A. Burr, of Huapai, permission to run along Lincoln Road, instead of via Taupaki, when a full load from or to Riverhead had been obtained; Auckland Bus Company, Limited, for the bus which leaves Oratia on Sundays to be delayed to 6.45 p.m. during January and February; 10. G. Brown, of Waihi, for a reduction of the fare from Waihi to Waihi Beach; Wool ley, Morgan and Burnett, Limited, of Tuakau, to run a less frequent service.
