LABOUR ON FARMS
MINISTER APPROACHED DISCUSSION OF PROELEMS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] V. ELLIXGTOX, Thursday The problem of farm labour was dis-fus-e-1 to-day at a conference between the Dominion executive of tlit.- Xew Zealand Farmers' Union and the Minister of Labour. Hon. H. T. Armstrong, who is also Minister of Employment. The result of their deliberations is that a sub-committee is to be appointed by the Farmers' Union to bring down proposals and consult with the Government. The conference discussed conditions of employment on farms and what would be considered reasonable rates of pay. The members also discussed the transport of workers in seasonal occupations and the demand for labour for seasonal as well as permanent work.
