The statement is balanced at £26,-109,277, an increase of £293,57-1 on the previous week. '1 here has been a further fall in the note issue, which at £10,890,74-1 is £221,902 lower. State deposits have increased by £43,626 and liabilities to the trading banks are £399,514 higher. Other demand liabilities are up bv | £66,851. Sterling exchange, which was reduced in the previous two weeks, has risen j by £309,501 to £21,705,071. SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES A shortage of available supplies cf butter has caused an advance of 2s per cwt. in prices, according to a cablegram, dated January 15, received by Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, from Trcngrouse and Nathan, Limited. : New Zealand is quoted up to 95s per i cwt. The cheese market is weak. White cheese is selling at 51s per cwt., and coloured at 58s, a reduction of Is. MINIMUM F. 0.8. PRICES BUTTER RATE LOWER [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Thursday The New Zealand Dairy Board ha&> fixed minimum prices for f.o.b. and c.i.f. sales on the basis of butter, lid per lb., a reduction of and cheese, unchanged. The prices are subject to agents' selling commission of 1$ per cent, and are equivalent to butter 80s Id and cheese 49s 7d per cwt., both c.i.f.e.
