THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE WEAKNESS IN INSURANCES Further gains were made in industrial shares on the Auckland Stock hxcliango yesterday. 'J ho turnover in all sections again exceeded 20 sales. Inquiry was easier for the 1940 4 per cent Government loans, other issues being steady. A parcel of the 1910 bonds was taken at £IOO 10s, a drop of on cum interest dealing, and the 1946 stock changed hands at the current rate. There was a sharp rise in English, Scottish and Australian Banks, which sold Is Pd higher at £5 18s 6d. The demand for Australasias and New South Wales also was firmer.- Commercials again were weaker. A sale was made unchanged at 18s Sd, at which sellers were open for further business. A fall ui oilers for New Zealand* accompanied a transfer 2d cheaper at 47s 7d. The New Zealand insurance issues had an easier tendency. New Zealands hud sale Is 3d lower at tils .'id, while concessions by holders of South British and Nationals failed to attract buyers. Queenslands met with an improved demand, sellinc tid higher at 555. Farmers' Trading again sold freely on a rising market, registering a gain of Id to Ss Id Colonial Sugars moved up 10s in a transfer at £44 and Claude Neon (Sydney) were done Is 6d dearer at 545. Sales in Henry Jones at 3Ss and 3Ss 3d established an advance of 6d. Auckland Gas and Ley land-O'Brien added 3d each in sales at 2(3s 9d and 22s 9d respectively and New Zealand Paper Mills were released 2d higher at 30s 3d. Mortgage Corporations moved below par for the first time, with a transaction Id cheaper at 4s lid. Consolidated Bricks also dropped back, having sale 3d lower at 10s Sd.
