MORRINSVILLE HERDS GROUP TESTING AVERAGES [nfcoM otrn own correspoxdej.t] MORRINBVILLE, Wednesday Herd-testing figures for about 10,000 cows tested m the Morrinsville district during September by the New Zealand Co-operative Herd-testing Association show that in every group production a cow was somewhat lower than for September of last year, when the weather was more favourable. The Morrinsville group had 2038 cows under test, the average production a cow being 6871b. of milk, 4.28 test, and 29.291b. of butter-fat. The best herd average was 41.071b. of fat for 26 cows, while the top cow gave 691b. of fat. In the Kercone-Kiwitahi group 661 cows averaged 6701b. of milk, a 4.46 test, and 29.051b. of but-ter-fat. The leading herd of 49 cows had an average of 38.181b. of fat, while the top cow gave 691b. of fat. The Tahuna group of 680 cows averaged 6951b. of milk a cow. a test of 4.45, and 30.971b. of fat. The Hoe-o-Tainui group had the second highest average in the whole association, averaging 34.561b. of butter-fat for 472 cows under test. This group had the milk production of 8041b. a cow and a test of 4.29. The top cow was credited with 901b. of fat, the highest out of 75,000 cows in the association. The 406 cows in the Patetonga group averaged 6991b. of milk, a. test of 4.31, and 30.161b, of butterfat. The top herd of 37 cows had the high average of 44.671b. of butter-fat. The Te Puninga group's 1444 cows had averages of 7021b. of milk, a test of 4.27, and 301b. of butter-fat. In the Springdale group the production of 1233 cows averaged 6691b. of milk, 4.5 test and 30.151b. of butter-fat. The Waitoa group's 1014 cows averaged 6471b. of milk, a 4.41 test, and 28.571b. of butter-fat. Only 324 cows were tested in the Tatuanui group, the averages being 6141b. of milk, 4.33 test, and 26.61b. of fat. In the Waharoa and Walton groups 1346 cows averaged 29.011b. of fat and 916 cows averaged 29.851b. of fat respectively. The Ngarua group had the highest average in the whole of the association's 85 groups, with 34.611b. of fat for 864 cows. The top cow gave 801b. and the best herd averaged 39.91b. of fat for 66 cows. The Manawaru group, with 1556 cows under test, averaged 30.971b. of butter-fat a cow.
