The Government lias issued invitations to the Powers signatory to the Washington and London Treaties to attend a naval conference on December 2. The Dominions are not included, hut the High Commissioners will he informed that the conference will he open to the Dominions to be represented as they so desire. The First Lord of the Admiralty. Sir Bolton Eyrcs-Monsell, announced in the House of Commons that the Government had addressed communications to the United States, France, Italy and Japan inquiring whether they were prepared to be represented at a conference in London on December 2.

The purpose of the conference would be to secure agreement on as many aspects of naval limitation as possible, with a view to the conclusion of an international treaty to take the place of the two naval treaties expiring at the end of 1936. A message from Washington says the United States Government has accepted Britain's invitation to attend the conference. However, until the text of the invitation has been received and the scope of the conference is learned, the decision regarding the; composition of the United States delegation will be deferred.
