REGIONAL SURVEYS URGED REPRESENTATIONS TO BE MADE [I3V TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Friday The New Zealand Town Planning Institute, through its council, wili urge on the Government the necessity of an immediate undertaking of regional surveys and planning. The subject was discussed at the annual meeting of the institute to-day. It was suggested that aerial surveys offered rapid and economical means of arriving at a basis from which work in a very wide field such as planning could bo carried out. The conference was opened by Sir Alexander Young, Minister of Internal Affairs and chairman of the Town Planning Hoard. He said it was gratifying to know that the majority of local authorities which were under a statutory obligation to prepare schemes, were making an honest endeavour to get 011 with this important work. The work of the hoard was steadily growing and indications were that it would be busy for some time ahead.
