PALMERSTON OUTBREAK [by telegraph—own correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH. Tuesday What is described as the largest fire in Palmerston North for two years caused damage estimated at' hundreds of pounds when an outbreak occurred in the large wooden joinery factory owned by Messrs G. and E. J. Spencer and occupied by Mr. John Ax. The fire started in the rear and had a good hold when the brigade arrived, but the firemen managed to save the front portion of the building. The plant and machinery are insured for £250 and there is a cover of £3OO oh the building. * HOUSE AT EPSOM SPREAD OF FLAMES' .CHECKED A fire occurred shortly after 11 o'clock yesterday morning in the front room of a house at 18 Arcadia Koad, Epsom, owned and occupied by Mrs. A. Aldridge. The flames had a fair hold when brigades -from the Remuera and Mount Eden stations reached the scene, but they succeeded in confining the fire to the one room. The building is insured for £7OO and the contents for £375, with the State Fire Insurance Department.
