DATE OF ELECTION
NOVEMBER 27 FIXED MR. FORBES' ANNOUNCEMENT MONTH FOR THE CAMPAIGN [BY TELEGRAPH SPECIAL REPORTER! WELLINGTON, Tuesday Following a caucus of members of the Government Party at the supper adjournment to-night the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, announced in the House of Representatives that the date of the general election had been fixed for Wednesday, November 27. This follows recent predictions as to the probable date of polling day, and with the session ending this week will allow members a clear month for campaigning. "If we can get the bills from the law draftsman," said Mr. Forbes, in making his announcement in the House, "we hope to be able to finish the work of the session by Friday night at the latest. That would enable members to get away to their electorates and begin the election contest." Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour —Auckland Central): Is there going to be a contest?
Mr. Forbes: There seems to be a good deal of activity in the country, anyway.
