STERILISING EQUIPMENT
Sir, —I am the satisfied owner of a steam steriliser and therefore beg to differ with the points raised by "Seeker" on the question. Complete sterilisation of milkers' hands and cows' teats may not perhaps be possible; miioh, of course, depends on the individual farmer. But, regarding the sterilisation of all dairy utensils, "Seeker" is apparently well out of touch with the high degree of efficiency of some modern wood and crude oil sterilisers. Steaming of every part of the milking machine is, of course, easily possible, while the same treatment can be meted out to the cans, vats and separator by steaming direct from the hose played on them after washing. What is more, steam does not taint or affect the milk or cream, and is therefore far safer to use than chemicals. Slv period test sheets speak for themselves. Since installing a steam steriliser I have had superfine continuously. I will be pleased to hear from "try Hard" and others if they would like further information. Papakura. V. H. Hatbick.
