NORTHCOTE BOROUGH
FOOTPATHS SCHEME ESTIMATED COST £14,433 A comprehensive survey of 'all footpaths south of Kauri Gully was submitted to the Northcote Borough Council last night by the overseer, Mr. J. E. Mays, who reported that formation, storm'water drainage, kerbing, channelling and surface sealing would ' cost £14,433. Consideration is to be given by the Works Committee with a view to selecting streets for attention in order of urgency. A report by Mr. H. H. Watkins, engineer to the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, stated that the St. Leonard's outfall at Takapuna was not as suitable as the site he recommended near Ranopara Point for the main drainage outfall for the northern area. A proposal Messrs. A. G. Osborne and N. S. Davidson to increase the wages of the outside staff to Is lid an hour for 48 hours, with a proportionate increase to the waterworks engineer, was deferred until the end of the financial year.
