CHEMISTS IN INDUSTRY
RELIEVING UNEMPLOYMENT Details of a schetno for creating a demand anion"; manufacturers in tho Dominion for trained chemists, and thus relieving unemployment among qualified men, were explained by the chairman, Mr. M. J. Scott, at the annual meeting of the Canterburj branch of tho New Zealand Institute of Chemistry. Tho Dominion council of the institute, he said, had requested all the branches to forward to it particulars of their unemployed members in order that a complote register of unemployed qualified men in tho Dominion could bo compiled. Copies of this would bo brought under the notice of manufacturers, who would thus have a complete list of men recommended by the institute at their service. By the increased number of qualified men who would thus bo absorbed into industry it was honed that the standard of local manufactures would show a corresponding improvement.
