CROSSING COLLISION
VAN STRUCK BY TRAIN SMASHED TO MATCHWOOD OCCUPANTS ESCAPE DEATH [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] LEVIN, Thursday A baker's van containing two Levin men, Messrs. Robert Anderson and J. Corrigan, was struck by the south-bound Napier express at Rosl.vn Road level crossing, one mile north of Levin, this afternoon. The van was proceeding to negotiate the crossing on to the main highway, and was struck on the right-hand side by the train.
Residents near by heard the crash and rushed to the scene. A doctor was called, and as far as is known Mr. Corrigan received a broken collarbone and abrasions, and Mr. Anderson escaped injury, but both are suffering from shock. The van was practically smashed to matchwood.
