Peninsulars are quoted at 19s. THRIFT PROPAGANDA VALUE OF NEWSPAPERS The press was still tho chief publicity medium for building societies, although their advertising covered almost every type of media, said Sir Enoch Hill at tho International Congress of Building Societies held in Austria. In recent building society propaganda in Great Britain the policy of building societies had been to maintain a dignified, though direct, form of appeal to the public, ho said. Experience had taught that the advertiser got back from the public what he put into his advertisements in the way of unselfishness, friendliness and sincerity. "Home" appeal was now the predominant factor, and stress was placed on the future independence which young people might secure by acquiring a homo of their own through building society finance. Sir Enoch paid tribute to tho onorgy with which the Central European societies had carried, out their propaganda, one result of which was that people had been educated to regard a mortgage which enabled them to acquire a house as an inestimable boon.;
