IMPROVEMENT AT TE KUITI DEBIT BALANCE REDUCED [bt telegraph OWN correspondent] f TE KUITI, Tuesday An improvement in the finances of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was disclosed by the town clerk, Mr. M. J. Strange, at the meeting of the council held last evening. The debit balance in the district fund account on completion of the half-year ended September SO was £lßll 7s sd, as compared with a debit balance of £2817 7s 3d at the same time last year. The improved condition was mainly due to the increase in the amount of arrears of rates collected and to the fact that last year the sum of £">39 was paid in premiums on conversion. Arrears collected showed an increase of £316 lis 6d over those for the same period of last year, making a total rate revenue increase of £486 12s 9d. Tuesday » The accounts for the city trading departments for the half-vear ended September 30 show a profit of £40,422, compared with £43,719 for the halfyear ended September 30, 1934, a docrease of £3297. The principal decrease (£2302) was in the electric department, which is partly accounted for by th«* fact that concessions were made to consumers from June 1.
