ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY
NAVAL RATING MISSING
A naval rating, who was in custody on H.M.S. Philomel at the Devonport Naval Base, escaped yesterday aftflf* noon and had not • been traced night. The man is believed to have climbed through a port-hole. He sws.nl ashore, and disappeared. The assistance of the police at Devonport was enlisted in to trace the man, but, he was not seen a r ho reached the shore.
