AFTERNOON GATHERING
The Associate branch of tho National Council of Women held a social afternoon in the council's room yesterday, Mrs. E. R. Turner presiding. Tho room was attractively decorated with spring flowers. A varied entertainment of songs and elocution given by Miss Edna Craig, assisted by Mrs. Nello Porter and Mrs. Allan, was followed by an appeal, written by tho Empress oi Abyssinia to all British women, read by Mrs. G. Pickett. A mock olection contested between Miss E. Newton, representing complimentary dual representation; Mrs. M. Droaver, representing women's interests; and Mrs. G. Pickett, representing peace and freedom; created much enthusiasm and resulted in tho lastnamed topping tho poll. A prize for a treasure hunt was won by Mrs. North. Afternoon toa was then served.
