BOXING
PROFESSIONAL CONTEST Mark Candy and Watty Robertson, the two professional welter-weight boxers who will provide the main attraction on the Auckland Boxing Association's programme at the Town Hall on Monday evening, will not only be meeting each other in the ring for the first time, but will be making (heir first appearance in the Auckland ring. Boxing has not been booming in Auckland in late years, but recent matches, and especially the nmnteur championships Inst month, have offered definite proof that the sport is rapidly regaining its place in public favour, and consequently there has been keen competition among the professionals for selection. Candy and Robertson earned the mntch committee's approval, ana if their past performances aTe any indication, n thrilling fight will be seen. Both men are inclined to rugged fighting rather than clover boxing, and every round, 12 of which are scheduled, should bo keenly contested. A fir.o amateur programme between boxers showing outstanding form at the championships has been arranged in support.
