THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE t EASIER TONE PREVAILS Tho weaker tendency in share values became more marked on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. There was a heavier turnover and all sales, except two, were made at unchanged or lower prices. Offers for 11 out of 14 Government loans quoted were reduced, in some cases severely. A late sale on tho previous day was made in 1949 4 per cent ' stock unchanged at £lO9 10s, but for this issue buyers yesterday offered £IOB, a drop of £l. The market was practically baro of sellers and no business yas done. Banks were extremely weak at the fclosing call. Commercials were done at 16s 4d and 16s 3d, a drop of 3d. Early business was done in English, Scottish knd Australian unchanged nt £5 7s, but thereafter Operations were suspended. Similarly, the demand for New Zealands was easier after dealing at the current tote, 50s 6d. The insurances were poorly supported. New Zealands changed hands at 62s 3d and 62s 4id, a loss of lid, while Queensland were taken again at 58s. South British, which wero quoted unchanged at 925, wero sought 2s lower at 89s. In loan and agency, Farmers' Auctioneering B 'preference recovered in 7 dealing alter a slight fall. A parcel of Dominion Breweries was secured at 16s, a loss of Is on the cum rights price. Ex dividend business in British Tobaccos Recorded a fall of 2s. Dunlop-Perdriaus Vrere taken 5d cheaper and Broken Hills Were transferred unchanged at 53s 6cl fcfter an earlier -sale at 545. The improved farming position was reflected In a sale of Farmers' Fertiliser lid Jsicher at 19s 6d. An issue not usually flealt in, Victoria Nyanza Sugar, was traded at 5s 6d, which compares with jfche kst sale in 1929 at 43s 6d.
