DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
A well-attended meeting of the Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship was held in the Fabian Club rooms last evening, when readings and sketches from., "Pickwick Papers" were continued. Mr. T. Clarkson presided. ) The programme, consisting of chapters 44-48, was in the charge of Mr. H. C. Robinson. Headings were contributed by Mr. A. E. Grindrod, "How the Cobbler Was Ruined"; Miss E. M. Statham, "Human Nature in the Fleet Prison"; Mr. G. S. Bullen, "Tony Weller Threatened with Apoplexy"; Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, "Mr. Stiggins Denounces All Hypocrites"; Mrs. L. G. Morris, "Mrs. Bardell Has Company"; Mrs. M. C. Methcrell, "Mrs. Bardell Immured in the Fleet Prison"; Dr. C. H. Tewsley, "Mr. Winkle Announces His Mnrnage." An amusing sketch, "Arabella Allen's Elopement," was presented by Mrs. M. Free (Arabella's Aunt), Mr. J. E. Green (Bob Sawyer), Mr. T. Vivian (Ban Allen), and Mr. J. W. Kealy (Martin).
