WOMEN BULL-FIGHTERS
HONOUR FOR TWO SISTERS Women hull-fighters have commenced to invade the ring in Spain in view of the success of Juanita Cruz who last year fought in more than fifty rings. One of the newcomers, lieatm Santullano, fights on horseback, in the Portuguese style, a difficult feat in which she has had considerable success. Two sisters, Amalia and Jsnriciueta l'almeno, have won applause, and in a recent fight in Seville—the home of hull-fighting—wcro each awarded an car from the bulls they had killed, which is one of the highest honours conceded in the ring. The highest honour, it may be added, is the tail. When the president of the fight orders a tail to be cut off and given to the torero then the latter has achieved the height of ambition. Apart from the more serious aspirants to bull-fighting fame who are mentioned above there are downs of senoritas who have commenced to take part in the very unpleasant spectacles known as " comic bullfights,' in which it is not unusual to see incompetent amateurs stabbing for ten or fifteen minutes at a yearling bull in an attempt to kill it.
