SWIMMING INSTRUCTION
GRANTING OF PRIVILEGES ' In connection with the consideration given by the Parks Committee of the City Council to the question of granting privileges at the municipal swimming baths to teachers of swimming, it is pointed out by Miss Pauline Hoeft, an applicant for the right to give instruction, that she is now available to carry out the duties. Reporting to the council recently the committee said Miss Hoeft was not available. The two applicants considered most suitable, Mr. J). B. Anderson and Miss Hoeft, .had offered £251 and £l2 respectively as fees for the right, to teach, but it was considered theso amounts should be raised to £4O • and £2O, and in the event of the applicants declining to pay the sums, the attend ants at the baths should be permitted to teach. Further consideration , to the question is being given bv the committee. In explaining her position Miss Hoeft states that she is not prepared to pay the amount required by the committee, while she is available at the sum offered in the first place.
