GYMNASTIC CONTEST

COMPETITION AMONG TEAMS | SUCCESS OF ALL SAINTS' * About 50 boys from five gymnasiums conducted in the city and suburbs by the King's College Old Boys' Gymnastic Association took part in intorgymnasium competitions for tho Priston Shield, at All Saints' Hall, Ponsonby, last night. The contest was won by the All Saints' team, which gained 1180 points, the instructor being Mr. J. E. T. Palmer. St. Georgo's, Epsom, was second, with 980 points, and Beresford Street Congregational Church, 977 points, third After describing tho method he adopted in allotting points' the judge, Mr. V. F. Maxwell, a master of King's College, mentioned that the winning team had had considerably more experience of gymnastics than the other teams. The apparatus on which exercises were carried out wero the Roman rings, horizontal bar, parallel bars and the horse, ami there was also tumbling.

In presenting the winning team with the shield, Mr. C. T. Major, actingheadmaster of King's Preparatory School and a former headmaster of King's College, congratulated the members of the team and complimented them on the high standard they displayed. The founder of the association, Mr. C. G. Palmer, thanked Mr. Maxwell, who he said had carried out the duties of judge for the past seven years, and he also paid a tribute to the efforts of the instructors.
