BETTER NUTRITION
MR. BRUCE'S EFFORTS DISCUSSION AT GENEVA LONDON. Sept. 25 The Geneva correspondent of the Associated Press states that Earl de la Warr (Britain) submitted to the Economic Committee* of the League of Nations a motion hv Mr. S. M. Bruce (Australia), redrafted to meet the demands of France and Italy for consulbetween the International Labour Office and the International Institute of Agriculture. Mr. McDougall, on behalf of Mr. Bruce, opposed Spain and other countries in their attempt to secure an extension in order to include examination of tariff barriers to exporters of primary produce, on the ground of the danger of handicapping the investigation by an undue widening of its scope. Earl de la Warr isi consulting the Spanish and other delegates with a view to redrafting the motion so as to obtain a unanimous vote.
The Spanish project may be met by slightly enlarging the scope olf Mr. Bruce's motion, which the committee unanimously recommended to the Assembly. The motion urges Governments to examine practical means of securing better nutrition, and request:} the Council to extend the work of the League's health organisation on nutrition in relation to public health.
