IMPROVEMENT NOT HELD

Tlio improvement in conditions on tho Auckland Stock Kxchange on Wednesday was not maintained yesterday and levels again tended to fall. Support for Government loans was weaker, oilers for most of tho 4 per rent issues dropping by 10s or 15s. More sellers were o|>crnting, but no business was done. Levels for banks fluctuated narrowly. Unions lost 2s (3d and .Nationals of Now Zealand 6d compared with trading about" 10 days ago. Commercials and Now Zealands were, dealt in at current rates. Insurances again were easier, concessions being made by holders of New Zealands and Nationals. South British, which had weaker inquiry, changed hands' Gd lower at f)Hs, at which price further supplies could be had. In loan and agency, Mortgage Corporations lost further ground and a parcel was secured 2d cheaper at 5s Bd. Farmers' Auctioneering (A preference) sold at,22s (3d, a drop of 0d on cum dividend business. There was a reduction of 6d in levels for GoldsbroughMorts'.

Ifi a transfer at 555, Broken Mills wore 8s 10* d lower, hut quotations are now ox rights to the new issue of shares. New Zealand Breweries gained 6d in a sale at 51s, while business in other issues passed at late rates.
